THE EDUCATIONAL CULTURAL EVENTS ON OLD AND CONTEMPORARY ARTISTIC CALLIGRAPHY FROM AZERBAIJAN

Lithuanian Theatre, Music and Film Museum (41 Vilniaus str., Vilnius),

The exposition will display images of some 60 examples of old Azerbaijanian calligraphy, which will be introduced by specialists from the Azerbaijan Institute of Manuscripts Dr. Mammad Adilov and Mr. Muzafaddin Azizov. Visitors will also be invited to the personal exhibition of Mr. Tarlan Gorchu, whose works combine fine writing, graphic techniques and digital image processing.

PROGRAM

June 28, Monday, 5.30 pm, Opening

  • Mr. Egdunas RACIUS (Multicultural Relations Center, chairman),
  • Dr. Mammad ADILOV (Azerbaijan Institute of Manuscripts, director),
  • Mr. Muzafaddin AZIZOV (Azerbaijan Institute of Manuscripts, research fellow),
  • Mr. Tarlan GORCHU (Baku Marionettes Theatre, artistic director);
  • Workshop entitled „Artistic work in the light of the fundamental Islamic texts“, conducted by Egdunas Racius;
  • Lecture on history of calligraphy in Azerbaijan and on calligraphic manuscripts kept in the archives of the Institute of Manuscripts, conducted by Dr. Mammad Adilov.

June 30, Wednesday, 5.30 pm

  • Mr. Muzafaddin Azizov will hold a practical session on different writing styles and principles of good writing in Arabic scripture.

July 1, Thursday, 5.30 pm,

  • Opening of the exhibition of contemporary artistic calligraphy - Mr. Tarlan Gorchu will present his graphic and computer-processed works with free approach to calligraphy. The lecture will be followed by practical session.
