SIRVINTOS REGION

Territory
90,600 hectares, of which 55.73% are agricultural lands, 28.47% - forests, 2.42% - water areas, 2,09% - towns and residential areas, 2.09% - industrial companies and roads, and 9.2% - areas of other designation.

Population
21,600 inhabitants, of whom 36.11% reside in towns and 63.89% - in rural areas. Of the total, 47% are men, and 53% - women. Ethnic descent: 86% are Lithuanian, 11% - Polish, 2% - Russian, 3.8% Belorussian, and 1% - of other descents.

8 subdisdricts, 11 post offices, a bus station, a tourism information centre, a hotel, 6 pre-schools, 10 elementary schools, 11 schools of basic education, 5 secondary schools, a special school, a sports shool, a music shool, 12 cultural centres, 10 Catholic churches, 2 museums, 23 libraries, 177 archaeological, historical and cultural monuments, a sports centre, 2 health care facilities, 5 state owned companies, 6 public stock companies, 93 closed stock companies, 366 individually owned companies, 67 agricultural enterprises, and 20 companies of other status, 17 social organisations, 5 public institutions, 2 state institutions, 3 charity funds, and 2 associations.
