KUPISKIS REGION

Territory
108,000 hectares, of which 58.89% are agricultural lands, 25.37% - forests, 2.4% - water areas, 2.31% - towns and residential areas, 1.76% - industrial companies and roads, and 9.27% - areas of other designation.

Population
26,200 inhabitants. Ethnic descent: 96.4% are Lithuanian, 2.4% - Russian, 0.2% - Polish, 0.2% - Belorussian, 0.8% - of other descents.

Region facilities
6 subdisdricts, 16 post offices, a bus station, a hotel, 4 pre-schools, 11 elementary schools, 9 schools of basic education, 6 secondary schools, a school of agriculture, 37 cultural centres, 11 Catholic churches, 5 museums, 18 libraries, 160 archaeological, historical, and cultural monuments, 22 health care facilities, 2 state owned companies, 9 public stock companies, 89 closed stock companies, 506 individually owned companies, 61 agricultural enterprises, and 49 companies of other status.
