Museum’s objectives: to keep, investigate and popularize the heritage of Church art.

Museum’s Collection
The main direction in collecting of Museum’s exhibits is sacral fine and applied arts of the Great Duchy of Lithuania and in particular the material of the Kaunas Archdiocese.

  • Collection of fine arts: painting, sculpture, graphics.

  • Collection of applied arts: liturgical textile, liturgical ornaments, church equipment.

  • Collection on history of culture: photos, negatives.

Museum’s Sections

Cultural, educational activities
The Museum together with educational and other cultural institutions prepares and performs programs for training of children, pupils and adults.

Fragments from Museum’s History
The Church Art Museum was established on May 12, 1935 in Kaunas and existed until 1940. From 1941 to 1944 it operated as the Museum of Religious Art. The Museum of Kaunas Archdiocese was reestablished on December 6, 2001. It continues former traditions based on exhibits collected in the run of history.
