The Museum of Beavers is founded not far away from Akmene in the State reserve of Kamanos on initiative Vytautas Almanis. The visitors of the museum are shown a great deal of animals, birds and plants, that are included into the Red Data Book of Lithuania.

State Reserve of Kamanos
State reserve of Kamanos was established in 1979. The reserve territory is 3938 ha. The aim of the museum is to keep the biggest and the most valuable argillaceous ecosystem of the plain Northern Lithuania with characteristic and rare flora and fauna.
