The museum is devoted to Vincas Kudirka who is famous person of
Lithuanian national rebirth and author of national anthem. He worked and
lived in Kudirkos Naumiestis.
The museum was established in 1998.

Exposition
History of Kudirkos Naumiestis
Exposition presents castle, mound and burning stove of
13th century; administrative development of town; the old views of
Vladislavovas (former name of Kudirkos Naumiestis); peculiarities of
border town; town in period of Lithuanian independence (1918–1940);
famous people of region: teacher and writer Pranas Masiotas, the
Signatory of Act of Independence of Lithuania Justinas Staugaitis,
philosopher Pranas Kuraitis, sociologist Pranas Dielininkaitis, writer
Petronele Orintaite and others.
Prohibition of the Lithuanian
press in 1864–1904 and varpinikai
There are presented a national politics of oppression on
general governor of Vilnius Michailas Muravjovas; fight against
Russification by bishop of Zemaitija Motiejus Valancius; activity of
book – spreaders, who spread Lithuanian press;
foundation and spreading newspaper “Varpas”. There is widely explained
personality of Vincas Kudirka. Also there are shown his manuscripts,
facsimiles, original creative work and translations and other documents
that present his work.
