Exposition
In the manor house of the Counts Pliateriai in Bukante, Zemaite (Julija Beniuseviciute-Zymantiene, 1845-1921), the classic of Lithuanian literature, was born and grew up. In her homeplace - the only building that had remained from the manor of the Counts - a memorial exposition about the writer`s life and works has been opened.
The exposition comprises ethnographical-historical aticles, books, publications, photographs. Until 1994 the museum was a subdivision of Telsiai Alka Museum.

Cultural and Educational Activities
The museum organizes traditional celebrations of Zemaite`s anniversaries.

About the Museum
The museum was established in 1965. The museum is supervised by Laimute Arlauskiene.
