SILUTE REGION

Territory
224,300 hectares, o which 54,7% are agricultural lands, 18,84 % - forests, 16,4 % - water areas, 2 % - towns and residential areas, 2 % - industrial companies and roads, and 6,06 % - areas of other designation.

Population
70,000 inhabitants. Of the total, 48,25 are men, and 51,75 % are women. Ethnic descent: 95,4 % are Lithuanian, 3,2 % - Russian, 0,3 % - Polish, 0,3 % - Belorussian, 0,3 % - Ukrainian, 0,5 % - of other descents.

Region facilities
14 sub districts, 24 post offices, a bus station, 2 railway junctions, a tourist information center, 8 hotels, 11 pre-schools, 5 kindergarten-schools, 34 elementary schools, 15 schools of basic education, 15 secondary schools, 15 gymnasiums, a youth school, 3 vocational schools, a school of agriculture, 3 institutes of scientific research and their branches, 69 cultural institutions, 14 Catholic churches, a museum, 34 libraries, 2 sports complexes, 42 health care facilities, 3 state owned companies, 20 public stock companies, 240 closed stock companies, 1,318 individually owned companies, 112 agricultural enterprises, and 20 companies of other status.
