19,572 inhabitants. Of the total 46,21 % are men, and 53,79 % are women.
Ethnic descent: 87,3 % are Lithuanian, 6,9 % - Russian, 2,1 % - Latvian, 1,2 % -
Byelorussia, 0,4 - Polish, 0,1 % - Jewish, 0,1 % - Tartar, and 1,9 % - of other
descents.
