26,270 inhabitants, of whom 27.98% reside in towns and 72.02 % in rural areas. Of the total, 47% are men, and 53% - women. Ethnic descent: 86% are Lithuanian, 10.1% - Polish, 3.3% - Russian, 0.3% - Belorussian, 0.3% - of other descents.
