9,800 hectares, of which 38,03 % are buildings, 1,41 % - roads, 8,45 % - agricultural lands, 22,54 % - areas of natural growth, 14,08 % - water areas, and 15,49 % - areas of other designation.

Population
202,500 inhabitants. Ethnic descent: 63 % are Lithuanian, 28,2 % - Russian, 2,7 % - Byelorussia, 0,5 - Polish, and 5,6 % - of other descents.

17 post offices, a bus station, a railway station, a sea port, a ferry, 2 river warts, an airport, tourist information center, 20 hotels, 54 pre-school institutions, 16 kindergarten-schools, 3 elementary school, a schools of basic education, 26 secondary schools, 4 gymnasiums, 2 youth schools, 2 special schools, 8 vocational schools, 8 colleges, Klaipeda University, Visual Design Department of Lithuanian Academy of Arts, 26 cultural institutions, 4 Catholic churches, 4 houses of worship of other confessions, 10 museums, 2 libraries and its 14 branches, 6 archeological and historical monuments, 186 objects of cultural value, 4 theatres, 15 sport centers, 8 health care facilities, 8 state owned companies, 119 public stock companies, 2,937 closed stock companies, 7,077 individually owned companies, and 218 companies of other status.

133,590 hectares, of which 53,3 % are agricultural lands, 23,79 % - forests, 9,46 % - water bodies, 2,13 % - towns and residential areas, 2 % - roads, and 9,32 % - areas of other designation.

Population
46,000 inhabitants, of whom 37 % reside in towns, and 63 % - in rural areas. Of the total, 48 % are men, and 52 % - women. Ethnic descent: 98 % are Lithuanian, 1 % - Russian, 1 % - of other descents.
