The museum was founded in 1993. From 1993 to 2001 it belonged to the Museum of Kedainiai Region. Since July 1st 2001, the museum has been under the care of the administration of Gudziunai area.

The exposition informs the visitors about the course of events during the 1863 revolt, its leaders, and about the priest A. Mackevicius. The works of Lithuanian artists dedicated to the revolt and Paberze area are also displayed in the museum.
The museum
organizes artist symposiums, arranges exhibitions and other cultural events, attends to the excursions.
The museum operates in the building situated in Paberze Park. Opposite the museum, a square has been set up, in which the memory of the 1863 revolt and its participants is commemorated by wooden sculptures and an altar.
