Population
84,500 inhabitants, of whom 26.04% reside in towns and 73.96% - in rural areas. Of the total, 47.1% are men, and 52.9% are women. Ethnic descent: 95% are Lithuanian, 0.9% - Polish, 3% - Russian, and 1.1% - of other descents.
