JONAVA REGION

Territory
94,400 hectares, of which 45.66% are agricultural lands, 37.71% - forests, 2.22% - water areas, 4.98% - towns and residential areas, 2.86% - industrial companies and roads, and 6.57% - areas of other designation.

Population
54,000 inhabitants, of whom 66.67% reside in towns and 33.33% - in rural areas. Of the total, 48.15% are men, and 51.85% - women. Ethnic descent: 80% are Lithuanian, 1.8% - Polish, 13% - Russian, 1.1% Belorussian, and 4.1% - of other descents.

8 subdisdricts, 18 post offices, a bus station and a railroad junction, a hotel, 11 pre-schools, 5 kindergarten-schools, 9 elementary schools, 8 schools of basic education, 8 secondary schools, a gymnasium, a school for youth, 2 vocational schools, 15 cultural centres, 5 Catholic churches, a museum, a library, 1,200 archaeological, historical and cultural monuments, a theatre, a sports centre, 19 health care facilities, a state owned company, 31 public stock companies, 361 closed stock companies, 943 individually owned companies, 61 agricultural enterprises, and 64 companies of other status.
