Exposition
In the manor house of the Counts Pliateriai in Bukantė, Žemaitė (Julija Beniuševičiūtė-Žymantienė, 1845–1921), the classic of Lithuanian literature, was born and grew up. In her homeplace – the only building that had remained from the manor of the Counts – a memorial exposition about the writer`s life and works has been opened.
The exposition comprises ethnographical-historical articles, books, publications, photographs. Until 1994 the museum was a subdivision of Telšiai Alka Museum.

Cultural, educational activity
The museum organizes traditional celebrations of Žemaitė`s anniversaries.
