of M. K. Ciurlionis in 1941. Objects, which relate to presidential

attributes, which survived during political upheavals. Personal family
relics, tableware that belonged to the presidents and especially last
president who resided in the Palace – president A. Smetona, complement the
exhibition. It also features rich collection of folk textile collected by

Exhibition 'White Gloves: Official and
Unofficial Diplomacy in Kaunas in 1918–1940'
September 5, 2008 – July 5, 2009)
September the 5th, 2008 was the 110th birth anniversary of Stasys Lozoraitis
(1898–1983), the so-called founder of the Lithuanian Diplomacy. The
Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also marked its 90th anniversary in
2008. Moreover, it is very important to note that Lithuania celebrated the
90th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of Lithuania on 16
February 1918.
The exposition was organised in four halls of the President Palace. The
exposition in the main hall reflects the official work of the Lithuanian
diplomats. It features various interstate agreements and a collection of
photographs from awards ceremonies, official meetings and various national
holidays. The second and third halls of the exhibition present the
Lithuanian diplomatic block abroad, the activities of the Lithuanian Foreign
Ministry during 1918–1940 and the work of Stasys Lozoraitis, the founder of
the Lithuanian Diplomacy. The fourth hall of the exhibition is dedicated to
the unofficial side of the Lithuanian diplomacy. This section of the
exhibition features photographs from various unofficial meetings and hunting
events as well as caricatures and funny stories related to both official and
unofficial events.
